Beyoncé Poses For Harpers Bazaar Magazine In Paris

Beyoncé, who just released her new single Run The World (Girls) this week, was spotted on a balcony at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, France this week posing for a Harper’s Bazaar magazine photoshoot. Taking a page from the girl power vibe of her new song, Bey was photographed in a few powerful Evita-like poses. [...]

Yesterday was David’s and my first full day here at his parent’s house in Connecticut and I’m not gonna lie … it was a very quiet day. Because we’re out in the country (ie. woods that get so dark at night that you half expect to see murderers, vampires or flesh-eating zombies roaming around in the back yard), there really ain’t much to do. For the most part, I spent a nice relaxing day reading and hanging out with David’s family. BUT, by nightfall (presumably to distract from the fact that the darkness outside looks like a horror film waiting to happen), it was time to dye Easter Eggs!

David’s family celebrates Passover and Easter so while we will be having a Seder Dinner tonight, we will be hunting for Easter Eggs tomorrow morning. Fun Fun Fun all around. We made eggs for everyone in the family as well as some of our friends (like Emma and Josh) and just had a fun time getting messy and hanging out.

The BIG fun will get started in a few hours, tho. I LOVE having Seder Dinner with David’s family. I brought some fun Passover toys and I’ll be wearing my very own yarmulke (which I procured in Berlin last month at the Jewish Museum) for the first time so … I’m excited! I’ll be sure to post photos on Twitter thruout dinner and, of course, I’ll share them here on the blog tomorrow. Happy Saturday! I hope it’s a great one for all y’all!!

Why Southern Gospel Music Inspires Our Soul

Music itself can inspire, it can motivate, and it can give us hope. However, nothing compares to how praise and worship songs seem to touch the very core of your being. Their words seem to literally seep into your very soul and make you acutely aware that there are greater things out there, than what currently surrounds you.

Starting a band and playing a great gig isn't only for musical geniuses - it's for anyone who wants to have a blast, show others a great time, and best yet - you don't have to be a flawless musician.

Oh no! The Broadway curse has weaseled its way onto the set of the new Spider-Man movie!

Thankfully, no one was hurt!

Three production grips found themselves trapped mid-air yesterday for three hours while working on the new movie, The Amazing Spider-Man, in Manhattan. The grips were attempting to build a platform six stories high that would support a camera set up on the roof of a building in Chinatown when a malfunction occurred on the crane they were on.

It took the FDNY three hours to finally rescue the three men as the computers for the crane, as one of the grips explained later, "went blank…like someone turned off the dark switch."

Thankfully, firefighters were finally able to get use of a cherrypicker - a crane on a truck with a basket at the end - and got the men down safely. With no one hurt and with every precaution taken to ensure the men were safe from further danger, we think the movie's fairing much better than the Broadway show has.

Let's just hope this isn't a bad omen for worse things to come!

White iPhone 4 Selling Well

The long-awaited white version of the hugely popular iPhone 4 was released yesterday in 27 countries.

Apparently it's selling wellpretty well… amazingly well:

Initial reports from Asia indicated it had sold out in Hong Kong and Beijing within hours of going on sale yesterday.

Wow!

We're not very surprised by this, Apple products always sell like hot cakes! (if hot cakes sell millions of units and make phone calls… kind of a ridiculous phrase)

Cue every news outlet reporting on it to say that it's "white hot," right??

Congrats, Steve!

Choosing The Right Software To Make Your Own Beats

Rockabilly music represented change. It was just one aspect of a rapidly changing world. Post World-War II America as a whole was changing more quickly than it ever had before. The soldiers were home and money was freed up from the war effort to be directed once again into consumer production. And as is usually the case, the war had spurred invention and innovation. As a result, consumers were using many more household gadgets, not the least of them, the television. And this surge in the adoption of the TV in American homes gave rockabilly artists a promotional tool that had never been exploited to such a great extent before.

Last night David and I hung out with a group of friends last night that included Cara — who we hadn’t hung out with in ages — and Shane & Jordan, who we always make sure to spend time with when we’re in the city. We convened for dinner at The Smith in the East Village and then made our way to Splash Bar for Musical Monday. We had a blast, primarily because we were in such great company.

Cara is my girl who I’ve known for years but we realized that it had been FAR too long since we hung out together here in the city. Last night was our chance to remedy the fact that we hadn’t seen one another in a while and we picked up as if no time had passed. Shane is one of David’s BFFs so we always make sure to spend time with him here in the city … and randomly, we always run into Jordan here in NYC when we happen to be here. I have to tell you, I am a very lucky person. I know the coolest people in the world and I feel so blessed to count them as friends. That Cara and I can pick up after a few years as if no time has passed is just so wonderful. And there are few people in the world that make me as happy as Jordan does. We ate, we drank and were very merry here last night so … it was a very good night.

Tonight, David and I will be seeing Catch Me If You Can on Broadway. Catch Me stars Kerry Butler, who I met when she was starring in Xanadu and LOVED in Rock of Ages. I am very excited to see her in this new show. It’s supposed to be rainy tonight but I don’t think anything can dampen my spirits today. Happy Tuesday, y’all!!

The Five Squeeze Songs I Would Take To My Desert Island

One of the most under-rated aspects of Paul McCartney career as a musician and songwriter is his proficiency on the bass guitar. From the simple root notes of many early Beatles tracks to the adventurism typical of much of their late-60's output, McCartney's influence on the instrument was to prove far-reaching. It helped to dispel the image held by many fledgling pop groups that the poor soul who ended up on bass was only there because he/she was the worst guitarist.

prince-william-cant-see-the-dress-before-the-wedding.jpg

Isn't that how it works for all grooms? There's that old saying that you can't see the bride in her wedding dress until the actual wedding or its bad luck. So, why should the future King of England be the exception to the rule???

According to palace officials, Prince William and his brother, Harry, will not be two of the nearly two billion TV watchers poised to watch Kate Middleton journey from the Goring Hotel to Westminster Abbey on their wedding day. When the procession starts, William and Harry will be taken away for a few minutes of peace in a tiny chapel on the grounds, away from all the hoopla and spectacle. It'll be the quietest moment of the last few months for him, we imagine.

As for Kate, her long ride through London will have her passing by thousands of spectators who will be lining the street on April 29th. As Kate wishes to keep the name of her designer a secret, mostly from her soon-to-be husband, it won't be until she arrives at the Abbey that the world will learn who is behind arguably the most anticipated piece of fashion to date.

Choosing Oscar Nominees and Winners

I've written these two articles to give you some basic and intermediate tips to correctly color balance your photos during a wedding. As I stated in the other article, a wedding has many light sources and these light sources compete to be the main light in your photos. The problem is, if these light sources have very different color temperatures, your images will have an incorrect white balance.

History of the NAACP Image Awards

The Academy Award of Merit, or the Oscar Statuette, designed to symbolize film achievement, is constructed of gold-plated britannium on a black metal base, stands at over a foot tall, and weighs eight and a half pounds. It is designed as an Art Deco styled knight poised with a sword in hand, standing upon a film reel with five spokes, each of which symbolize the original five branches of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: Producers, Directors, Writers, Actors, and Technicians. (Now the Academy is divided into fifteen branches: actors, directors, cinematographers, producers, executives, writers, art directors, musicians, sound, visual effects, make up artists and hairstylists, public relations, documentary, feature animation, and short film.)

Did Kobe Bryant Direct Gay Slur At Ref? (VIDEO)

A video supposedly showing Kobe Bryant’s gay slur infused pout fest Tuesday night is plowing its way through the Interwebs today. Though audio of his exact words is not present in the clip, it doesn’t take a lip reading expert to piece this one together. The LA Laker’s star, who is no stranger to bad press, has worked his way back into the news cycle, this time for some childish antics aimed at an NBA official. The incident began when Kobe appeared to heckle referee Bennie Adams while in the middle of game play. As the Spurs began to move the ball across the center line, Bryant jogged his way over to cover his man. You can visibly see him flailing his arms around as he faced Adams, who was standing just out of bounds. Adams apparently had enough and called him on a technical foul. Rather than walk over and take a seat like any multimillionaire athlete should, Kobe put on a hilariously immature display, throwing towels and even pounding on the back of his seat. After fuming for a few seconds, the champ decided to offer a few words for the ref. TMZ reported this morning that he [...]

Calling It Christian

Roses are one the primary gifts given all around the globe. They have been associated with love as well as war. There is even a war called "The War of the Roses" which was fought in England in the 1400's, but most associate the plant with the symbol of love. This idea goes back to 500 B.C. where Venus, the goddess of love, was associated with the plant and it was her sister, the goddess of flowers, who create the Rose.

All About The 7 Elements Of Music

What seems most noticeable about the beautiful African music is that it relies heavily on percussion materials, especially on the African drums. One can also notice and appreciate the intense, upbeat and fast-paced rhythmic style used in playing the African drums. This style of playing these special instruments is most especially evident among the various tribes in Africa.

The Best Way To Easily Create Killer Hip Hop Beats

The general feeling with electric players is that stainless steel frets can give a completely new dimension to ease of playing; therefore why shouldn't the same be applicable to the acoustic guitar? Stainless steel fret replacement is a reasonably common modification that is made to electric and electro-acoustic guitars, but the practice of refitting an acoustic guitar with stainless steel frets is a pretty rare occurrence, by all accounts.

At last, at last … Mariah Carey gave birth AT LAST! Congratulations are in order for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon because at just after 9AM PT (12PM ET), she gave birth to the couples first children — a boy and a girl. The twins were born today which just so happens to also be the Mr. & Mrs. Cannon‘s 4 year wedding anniversary … which is just too perfect for words. Read below for all the deets courtesy of People magazine!!

April 30 is double the pleasure for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. Not only did they welcome twins, but the couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary, too! Carey, 41, delivered the babies Saturday at 12:07 p.m. EDT at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles. Carey’s representative, Cindi Berger, confirmed the births to The Associated Press, saying the baby girl was born first, weighing 5 lbs., 3 oz., and was 18 inches long; her brother was next, at 5 lbs. 6 oz., and was 19 inches. And it was just as Cannon predicted. “I’m not trying to be a psychic, but we renew our vows every year so … It’s probably going to be in the hospital this year. I can feel it,” Cannon said Thursday when he guest-hosted The Talk. “We got the minister coming in, so this gown will not be a wedding gown, but a hospital gown.” Berger says they were listening to Carey’s “We Belong Together” after the children were born … As for the origin of their babies’ names, Cannon told PEOPLE in January that the couple had aimed for unique but not wacky. “They won’t be crazy names like Carburetor or something,” he promised. “But they’re definitely unique.”

OMG … it’s about damn time! What a truly special day for Mimi and Nick. Not only are they celebrating the birth of their twin children today but they are also celebrating the 4 year anniversary of their marriage. April 30 will truly be one of the most important days in the couple’s lives … for all time! I can’t wait to hear more deets about the twins’ birth — including their names — but I think we’ll have to wait a bit to get that info. For now, let’s just send all of our love and congrats to the happy NEWLY EXPANDED family! May they live very long and very happy lives together!!! Wee!!

Kylie Minogue Kicks Off Her Aphrodite Live 2011′ Tour Here In The US

After touring Europe and Japan, Kylie Minogue has brought her world tour to the US last night and officially kicked off Aphrodite Live 2011 in Boston, MA. Because her US tour isn’t as extravagant as her European tour (ie. no Splash Zone), I was worried what the “stripped down” version of the show would look [...]

Last night was my second of three Prince concerts this week and I am happy to report that last night’s show was just as amazing as Thursday night’s show. As I say all the time, no two Prince concerts are ever the same. There something different in the Prince was feeling last night that gave the show an entirely different feel. I attended last night’s show at The Forum in Inglewood, CA with my good friends Angie and Ollie. With my O(+> tambourine in hand, we made our way to one of the funkiest concerts I’ve ever seen.

Obviously the vantage point from our seats last night was different than our much closer seats from Thursday night but we had a blast nonetheless. There really is NOT a bad seat in The Forum so I have no cause for complaint. Ollie and Angie were just as excited for the show as I was and we all danced and sang the night away. Here is the setlist from last night’s show:

Let’s Go Crazy

Delirious

1999

Shhh

Mountains

17 Days

Lovergirl (Teena Marie cover)

Give It To Me Baby (Rick James cover)

Everyday People

Play That Funky Music

Glamorous Life (Sheila E performance)

Santana Medley: Jungle Strut / Soul Sacrifice / Toussaint L’Overture

The Question Of U

The One

Gingerbread Man

Take Me With U

Raspberry Beret

Cream

Cool (with Bass Jam instrumental)

Let’s Work

U Got The Look

Encore 1:

Make U Feel My Love

Purple Rain

Encore 2:

Kiss

A Love Bizarre

Controversy

Encore 3:

Segment/Medley:

When Doves Cry

Nasty Girl

Sign O’ The Times

The Most Beautiful Girl In The World

Forever In My Life

Darling Nikki

Single Ladies

I Would Die 4 U

Altho last night’s show was a bit shorter, it was FULL of energy. The Forum was more full so that energy played a big part in the show’s success. I’m not even kidding you, I could see Prince perform night after night after night for weeks and not get tired. Tonight, I’m seeing my third Prince show of the week with my really good friends Emma and Josh (neither of which have seen Prince in concert before). I can’t wait … Prince spoke last night about how everyone HAD to come see him tonight so … I’m excited! Altho I’m still not feeling 100%, nothing is going to keep me from seeing Prince in concert as many times as possible ;)

It’s the weekend, y’all!! I hope you have a great one!! :D

How to Get Paid Gigs

It's difficult to describe just how influential the early rockabilly pioneers were on the musicians that came after them. These musicians were breaking brand new ground in the 1950's and making up the rules of rock and roll as they were going along. And although they've been all but forgotten by the majority of modern music fans--and even modern rock musicians--their influence simply cannot be denied.

You can find primarily two kinds of online bingo video games accessible to Bingo aficionados, 75-balls Bingo and 90-balls Bingo. In situation of 75-balls Bingo, a player buys a Bingo card that comprises of five x five grids and also the phrase B-I-N-G-O is created more than the card. Finding Work In The World Of Art

In honor of Black History month I am featuring African American authors who made history by accomplishing extraordinary feats at a time when the odds were so heavily stacked against them. This week the spotlight rests on Ann Petry, the first African American female author to sell over one million copies of her book. Petry was born in 1911 in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, where her father and grandfather ran a drugstore.

If you like Avril, you will probably like this song.

It's more of the same ol'. A tad uninspired.

We don't think this will win her many new fans and we're not sure this will be a huge hit.

Now we know why her record label waited over a year after she finished recording the album to release it!

Becoming A Studio Guitarist

Born Stefani Joanne Germanotta on March twenty-eight, 1986, she is today known as Lady Gaga all over the entire planet. G's claim to fame came very quick, at the time she launched her debute CD Fame in August of '08. On the music album she composed the music chart leading music single "Just Dance," and this track launched her in to stardom. Her unique nick name came from music producer Rob Fusari. Everyday, when Stefani came to the studio, he'd start the Queen Track "Radio Ga Ga." The artist name Lady Gaga was created completely accidentally, when Rob Fusari emailed her a message that was meant to be named "Radio Ga Ga," but the business phone automatically adjusted it in to Lady. Thus the artist name Lady Gaga came to be. Germanotta refused to be called by her name from there on, and goes solely by the name Lady Gaga currently, and introduces herself as Gaga.

The History Of The Music Video

There's a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that I love, which is, "That which we persist in doing becomes easy to do; not that the nature of the thing has changed, but that our power to do has increased." Emerson really hit the nail on the head with that one. As I think about virtually everything that I've accomplished in my life that I'm really proud of, it's always something that I've accomplished by being persistent and refusing to quite. Whether it's learning to play guitar, licensing my music, building my businesses or having great relationships, it's all required persistence and determination despite the inevitable obstacles that I've faced along the way.

Entertainment Shows Are An Integral Part Of Human Culture

An unusual award has hit the headlines for rewarding entrants who make the least amount of effort with their art materials. This year's Turnip Prize has been awarded to trio of amateur artists who managed to beat graffiti king Banksy with their work 'Chili n' Minors' which displayed one large green chili next to three smaller chillies on a paper plate. Debutant group Doug Pitt scooped the satirical award of a turnip mounted on a six inch rusty nail at the ceremony which was created twelve years ago in Somerset in response to the 'pretentious' Turner Prize.

A new batch of previously unseen promo photos of popstar-turned-actress Christina Aguilera have made their way to the Internets and they are … interesting … to say the least. The photos were shot by Andrew Macpherson and feature a relatively fresh-faced Xtina. The pics are worth checking out, especially since Xtina is not wearing her garish trademark red lipstick.

Thank the sweet baby Jebus that Macpherson got Xtina to pose without all the red lipstick. I think she looks a million times better when her make-up is light. To be honest, some of these photos are cheesy as Hell … but they’re not bad. Macpherson photographed some of the promo photos for Burlesque (including the official movie poster) as well as shoots for Natalie Portman, P!nk, Britney Spears and others. These photos are fun … playful … and much better than many of Xtina‘s other promo photos. What do y’all think … do you like?

Robert Pattinson Kristen Stewart Make Their Way To Brazil

Twilight co-stars and rumored lovebirds Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have made their way to Brazil to film new scenes for the upcoming sequel film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Those of you familiar with the books know that vampire Edward Cullen (Pattinson) and human-turned-vampire Bella Swan (Stewart) get married and go on their honeymoon [...]

Last night ended up being a pretty quiet one for me. After a quick trip to get my hair did, I ended up staying in for the night. David and I talked about going to see a movie but it got kinda late and I got caught up in watching a Season 2 two-part episode of Wonder Woman titled Mind Stealers from Outer Space:

Desipte the fact that I had not seen this two-part episode since it first aired back in the late 70′s, I still vividly remembered much of the plot. Wonder Woman battled alien invaders called The Skrill and managed to foil their plan to steal the minds of the most intelligent human beings on Earth. For the most part, WW battled human villains but sometimes the producers would throw in some aliens and some horrible special FX to mix things up for a bit. As a kid, I loved every second of shizz like this … but what I can’t understand is how adult viewers were able to stomach the cheesiness. I’m just glad that shows like Wonder Woman, The Incredible Hulk, Buck Rogers in the 21st Century and more introduced us to the fun of Sci-Fi ridiculousness at such a young age. I still have quite a few WW eps to get thru before I start watching The Bionic Woman Season 1 on DVD :)

Today, we are getting out of the house. David has been sick all week long and he has gotten stir crazy … not sure the plan just yet but I’m sure we’ll think of something fun to do. Happy Saturday!

The existence of God is still a mystery and somewhat even controversial. However, the belief in the presence of a supernatural power prevails among many. There are a lot of people who believe in God and His powers. There is another set of people who call it mere cosmic energy or force. Either way, a majority of us agree on one thing- that there is a force that operates beyond our control. Well, to be honest, this is a subject that rather gets interesting only if it remains a mystery!

Kate Walsh Embarrassed For Not Having Kids

Check out these excerpts to learn more about her crazy life!

On her tabloid divorce

"Oh my God. The worst thing ever. It was so public, and yet it was so legal-embroiled. You couldn't talk about anything…"

On lessons learned from marriage and a short courtship

"I've always had the courage thing down, but then I had to develop the rest. I've learned to seek other people's counsel more. That's a good part of growing up."

On not having children

"I feel like a loser. I would definitely love to be a parent. But I definitely don't think I want to do it on my own. Things are just going to go the way they go… I thought I'd be married and have three or four kids. I always knew I wanted to be an actress, but I think I always wanted a quote-unquote normal life because I had a very untraditional upbringing."

The Importance Of Reading Guitar Lessons Reviews

While singing for an audience, the most important thing to do is select a song that the majority of an audience will most likely enjoy. It is thus good to decide the song based on the turnout of audience. It should not be difficult to determine the taste and likes of the crowd if most of them are your own friends - you have know them for long and you all perhaps have similar tastes. But if the members of the audience are mostly strangers or perhaps kids, you really should do a research on what they enjoy the most. Leslie Nielsen, 1926 2010: Dont Call Him Shirley

Leslie Nielsen, star of TV's Police Squad! as well as the Airplane and Naked Gun movies, has died at age 84 .  Nielsen was a dramatic actor who turned to comedy relatively late, but the first half of his career was preparation for the second, in which he became one of Hollywood's funniest straight men. When Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker cast Nielsen in Airplane!, they were looking not for a classically funny guy: they were looking for a man who could play as if entirely unaware he were the funniest character in a movie. The disaster-movie parody spawned his entirely apt trademark line, in response to the exclamation, "Surely you can't be serious!": "I am serious

Last night David and I made our way out to the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood, CA to see this week’s #1 movie Battle: Los Angeles. As you may recall, back in January we got to see the trailer for the film and based on what I saw, I knew I wanted to see the film when it opened in theaters. The movie came out on Friday but David and I were still in Berlin, Germany … so last night was our first chance to see it and … overall, we both liked it.

To be clear, Battle: Los Angeles is not a cinematic masterpiece. It’s not even the best alien invasion film I’ve ever seen … but it is a fun film with a lot of great action scenes, a pretty decent storyline and impressive CGI. My one complaint about the film is the length … it goes on for about a half hour too long. But the action gets started pretty quickly and doesn’t let up much. The weakest parts are when the film tries to tug at your heartstrings and, let’s be honest, no one is going to see a movie like this for the emotional impact. We want to see aliens, aliens blowing up stuff and humans blowing up aliens. Thankfully, we do get to see a lot of that in this film. It’s not a movie that I would call a “must see”, but we enjoyed it and if the trailer makes you think it’s something you’d like to see, go see it. It’s fun.

Tonight, I’m meeting up with Darion and Josh for a reunion dinner over sushi and then Josh and I are going to see Liz Phair at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA. Happy Hump Day, y’all!!
